Lists

Getting started with Lists

Checklists, groceries and packing lists, how sharing and assignees work, and how Lists is encrypted.

Updated 2026-09-28

Lists is for checklists, groceries and packing that more than one device needs to see at once.

Three styles

  • Checklist / tasks: rows with a due date, an optional repeat, and an assignee on shared lists.
  • Grocery: items are sorted into aisle sections (Produce, Dairy, Bakery and so on) as you type, so a list reads the way a store is laid out.
  • Packing / template: build a list once (Weekend trip, Camping, Moving day) and reuse it with "Use template" whenever you need it again.

Adding items quickly

Type naturally and Atrium figures out the details — "call plumber tomorrow 9am" becomes a task due tomorrow morning. Reordering is drag and drop.

Sharing

On Family, Business and Enterprise plans, any list can be shared with your household or team (Personal lists stay private to you). Shared lists support assignees, so everyone can see who has which item. A change on one device reaches the others in about a second.

Where it shows up

A list item with a due date also appears on your Calendar alongside your other tasks, so you only have to check one place.

Exporting

Open a list's ⋯ menu and choose Export CSV to download that list as a spreadsheet, or use Export all lists (CSV) at the bottom of the sidebar for every list in one file (a List column tells them apart). Each row has the item, sub-item parent, quantity, aisle or section, checked state and date, due date, priority, assignee, repeat rule, notes and links. The file is made in your browser. Settings → Data → Export everything offers the same download, and it also works while a suspended account is exporting its data.

Encryption

List and item names, quantities, notes and links are encrypted on your device before upload; our servers cannot read them. Due dates, repeat rules, priority, done state and (on shared lists) who an item is assigned to stay readable to our server, the same way it works for Calendar — that's what lets reminders fire and sync work across your devices. Details: What we can and cannot see.
